As Frederic area youth learned in 2005, the most difficult - and yet most rewarding - place in the world to do a mission project is at home right here in Frederic. With that awareness, youth from Frederic area churches are joining together for the Home Field Advantage project. HFA is a youth mission project serving Frederic and the surrounding area beginning July 27.

The goal is to share the love of God in practical ways with people right here in their own community. Special attention will be given to the needs of the elderly, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged.

During the Home Field Advantage week, youth will be involved in a variety of service projects including yard and house work, light construction, painting, window washing, planting, firewood preparation, garbage removal, etc.

The Block Party

The week will conclude on August 3 with a community block party to which everyone from the area is invited. There will be free food, games, and entertainment. (More)

Who's Involved

Many of Frederic's churches are in on the project. Also involved are many area businesses and individuals.

Saturday, Sunday, Van Story

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008 at 11:37 pm

Saturday

The decided word of the day for Saturday was “mellow”, and we spent the afternoon at Clear Lake just relaxing and hanging out. (Hopefully we’ll get some pictures from the beach up soon.) That morning, after sleeping in, we met at Frederic EFC for one last worship session and some sharing time. Things were still a little groggy when these pictures were taken.

Sunday

Unfortunately, because of rain, we had to move the block party from Coon Lake park to FEFC. Things cleared up as the day went on, and we had a great turn-out. Here’s a recap:

Caitlyn and Adrianna set up shop with face painting during the night for all ages.

There was a trend among the guys for various logos.

Alex volunteered to become a clown for the afternoon, and entertained many kids.

Before the band played, Brad wowed the crowds with his juggling skills.

Ernie Couch and Revival from Nashville then took the stage and gave us a great concert.

“Will you sign my shirt/hat/arm/clothing apparel?” Many did the customary shirt signing.

The Van Story

Somewhere in the middle of the week, Cameron experienced what is now called “The Van Story”. To be honest, the story isn’t that great, but the way he tells it sure is.

Thanks everyone for all your prayers and support during the week. God did awesome things through us, many which will continue in the future.
