As Frederic area youth learned in 2005, the most difficult - and yet most rewarding - place in the world to do a mission project is at home right here in Frederic. With that awareness, youth from Frederic area churches are joining together for the Home Field Advantage project. HFA is a youth mission project serving Frederic and the surrounding area beginning July 27.

The goal is to share the love of God in practical ways with people right here in their own community. Special attention will be given to the needs of the elderly, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged.

During the Home Field Advantage week, youth will be involved in a variety of service projects including yard and house work, light construction, painting, window washing, planting, firewood preparation, garbage removal, etc.

The Block Party

The week will conclude on August 3 with a community block party to which everyone from the area is invited. There will be free food, games, and entertainment. (More)

Who's Involved

Many of Frederic's churches are in on the project. Also involved are many area businesses and individuals.

Wednesday: Off the Field

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 at 11:58 pm

This is just repetitious from the rest of the week so far, but today was another extremely busy one with lots of work and sun and fun. We don’t have many of the project pics available for the blog right now, but here are a couple from a job that involves staining the pictured deck, clearing brush, and using sand to help keep a basement dry.

Every morning before heading out we make and pack our lunches for the day. Here are some of the boys making their sandwiches and three of the amazing ladies who make it all possible.

Of course there are the service projects and the official HFA stuff, but there’s another whole part to the project we haven’t talked about much yet. Put 30 people together, work them like crazy during the day, deprive them of their normal sleep at night and things are bound to happen. For one, it’s not hard to tell the group as a whole is getting more tired as the week goes on. But also, as we mesh even more things tend to get a little crazy…

A couple of the guys have decided they’re not happy with the length of their current hairstyle. Tyler was the latest victim/participant.

(By the way, Will has been awesome to drive the bus from FEFC to the motel and back.)

Cameron wearing a look that is becoming more and more common for him.

Although this is a fairly bad picture, the leaders are starting to get worn down as well. It’s been confirmed Pastor Greg had at least one Monster energy drink today.

Alex, through the eye of his swimming goggles.

That’s all for tonight. Thanks for all your interest and support!
