As Frederic area youth learned in 2005, the most difficult - and yet most rewarding - place in the world to do a mission project is at home right here in Frederic. With that awareness, youth from Frederic area churches are joining together for the Home Field Advantage project. HFA is a youth mission project serving Frederic and the surrounding area beginning July 27.

The goal is to share the love of God in practical ways with people right here in their own community. Special attention will be given to the needs of the elderly, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged.

During the Home Field Advantage week, youth will be involved in a variety of service projects including yard and house work, light construction, painting, window washing, planting, firewood preparation, garbage removal, etc.

The Block Party

The week will conclude on August 3 with a community block party to which everyone from the area is invited. There will be free food, games, and entertainment. (More)

Who's Involved

Many of Frederic's churches are in on the project. Also involved are many area businesses and individuals.

Thursday

Thursday, July 31st, 2008 at 11:59 pm

Hello again, and welcome to anyone who read our story in The Leader and wants to find out more. Today was good weather wise, and what looked like it might have been rain this morning turned to sun by early afternoon. Here are a few pictures and narration from the day:

The Depot is coming along. Painting started today, and the east and south walls are done except for a few touch-ups. The difference between how it looked this morning versus this afternoon is striking. Tomorrow will be a big push to get as much done as possible on our last day.

Bonnie gives some direction to her team, who seem to be rather confused.

Tonight was the last normal night of classes in VBS before the closing program tomorrow. (Starts at 6:30pm – we’d love to see you there.) The kids have really enjoyed skits put on by Timothy, Adrianna, Brad, Josiah, Joel and Amy that introduce the night’s Bible story.

The sports camp did a slip ‘n slide tonight. Some people can manage to be slightly graceful on their way down (J.P.)…

…others, not so much. (Logan)

The group dynamics mentioned yesterday haven’t changed at all, and may actually be escalating. A couple of the girls decided today that Brady had done one thing too many and needed to learn a lesson in sitting still and being quiet.

Oh, and Bryan’s deodorant melted today when he left it in his bag in a hot car. That’s not really news worthy, though.
